The Luther Light for May is James Hemmelman, son of Jeff and Pat Hemmelman from Winona, MN. James attended St. Matthew’s Lutheran Elementary School in Winona before coming to Luther High School.  James has participated in cross country (9-12; captain 12) and baseball (9-12). He was a member of Marching, Concert, Pep and Jazz Bands (9-11) as well as WSMA State winner. James serves on Student Council (10-12), currently serving as senior class secretary. James is also a member of National Honor Society (11-12).  As an active member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Goodview, MN, James has used his musical gifts by playing trumpet in worship services. He has also volunteered at the Good Steward Resale Store in La Crosse.  In his free time he enjoys playing his guitar, being active in sports and spending time with his family and friends.  James is planning to attend Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN for a secondary education degree.
